Steven and Rachel met while they were both freshmen at Rowan University in 2015. Steven was in the Honors program where he resided in the Honors dormitory. While Rachel was not in the Honors program, she happened to find a roommate who was and was able to live in the Honors dormitory. Steven and Rachel ended up living on the same floor their freshman year and that is how their story began. They found a commonality and a sense of “safeness” between one another being nerds. (Rachel never wanted to admit it, but Steven always knew she liked to be one). He was a chemical engineer major and she was an accounting major, each having their own building across campus, yet they still crossed paths. Steven and Rachel were in Greek Life together, where their pledge classes were close. Anytime there was a mixer between their fraternity & sorority they would ultimately end up hanging out because it was just a good time. As any time in Greek Life, your involvement becomes less and less as you get closer to graduation, which led to them seeing less of one another. They stayed friends throughout the four years of undergraduate, always saying hi and catching up when they did until, graduation in 2019 when they all went home and said goodbye. Three years later in the beginning of 2022, Rachel had put something up on her snapchat story to where Steven replied. After a few exchanges of messages, Steven invited Rachel to a local bar that evening to watch basketball with him and his roommate. Rachel accepted. Little did she know, by walking into that bar with her jean jacket and a little bit of makeup, she caught the eye of her future husband. As Steven always says, “Rachel walked in and I said to myself ‘I’m in danger’”. This was the start of Steven and Rachel falling in love. From that day on they hung out almost every day, just as friends. Until one night at Bonesaw Brewery, they spent countless hours just talking about life and the future. Discussing what they both want out of life, where they want to live, and even how they would raise kids. That night Rachel knew, she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Steven. The two spent many nights getting Steven caught up to speed with classic movies, beginning with Harry Potter and then all the Avengers movies. They moved on to a classic series that Rachel had not fully seen, Lord of the Rings. Finally, a series they both have not fully seen, Star Wars. Ultimately blossoming the start of their favorite thing to do together - drink grape juice wine, eat cheese, and build LEGOs. After 2 years of dating, endless nights of deciding if it’s a Harry Potter or How I Met Your Mother night, and LEGO building, Steven popped the question overlooking the Hudson River with New York in the back. Or as Rachel likes to call it her “Bamboozle Day”, because Steven sure did bamboozle her. We are so excited to be exchanging vows in front of our family and friends this fall.
