Makenzie and Adam met during their senior year at Loyola Marymount University in 2018. Their connection began during Greek Week, when Makenzie was encouraged to ask Adam to coach her flag football team. Adam quickly proved to be a talented coach, and Makenzie became his most reliable receiver. While the team narrowly missed the championship, the two had found something more lasting. They began dating shortly thereafter, knowing they would soon face a long-distance relationship following graduation. Adam remained in Pasadena while Makenzie returned home to Portland. Despite the distance, they stayed closely connected and continued to build a strong foundation. When the pandemic made travel difficult, Adam accepted a position at Curative and found work for Makenzie, allowing the couple to reunite and move in together in Southern California. Living together marked an important step in their relationship and solidified their partnership. In 2023, Makenzie’s acceptance into PA school led them across the country to West Virginia. Adam continued working remotely at Curative while supporting Makenzie throughout her academic journey. During this time, they welcomed their golden retriever, Maisie, who quickly became an important part of their family. As Makenzie approached graduation in 2025, Adam planned a proposal while family and friends were gathered to celebrate. He asked Makenzie to marry him at the “Almost Heaven” swing set on the University of Charleston campus, a place special to them both. She said yes! After graduation, Adam and Makenzie moved to Austin, Texas, where Adam continues his work with Curative and Makenzie begins her career as a Physician Assistant in the ER. They look forward to building their life together and continuing the journey that began years ago in Los Angeles.
