To have and to hold.

On a beautiful, sunny morning, Shane and I packed up the truck to head on a hike. We had plans to hike one of my favorite trails that day. This trail leads to one of (what I consider) the most beautiful places in the state - the Haystacks. I looked forward to hiking with Shane that day because I knew he had never been to the Haystacks. I was so excited to experience his first time there because I knew he would love it as much as I do. On the hike down to the Haystacks, we enjoyed beautiful views along the Loyalsock creek and took some much needed water breaks. It was a very hot day. When we finally reached the Haystacks, I could not wait to dip my feet into the ice-cold creek. To my surprise, we were the only people at the Haystacks when we arrived. The Haystacks always have at least a few hikers around. We hopped from rock to rock. We took a seat next to each other. As we watched the crystal-clear, mountain water tumble over the smooth rocks like little waterfalls, he started saying really sweet things to me. He said things expressing his excitement about going on many more adventures together, like this, for the rest of our lives. Before I knew it, he was on one knee holding the most beautiful ring I ever saw. Honestly, I don't remember many details after this moment, but I must have got a " yes" out somewhere in the midst. I was in total shock, mostly because I was impressed with how he kept the proposal a total surprise to me. I will always remember the day we got engaged like it was yesterday, and I certainly can't wait for our lifetime of adventures together.
