How We Met

Fall of 2020 - April, 2023

Chris and I met through a mutual friend freshman year of college at Texas A&M and after that I felt like I saw him everywhere- at a party, a football game, a super bowl watch party, a ring dunk and finally at St. Mary's Catholic Church. I thought he looked really handsome and tried to build the courage to ask him out over a couple of months but Chris beat me to it by coming and saying hi to me at the church. I took the opportunity and asked him to my upcoming ring dunk right then and there. That Saturday he showed up at my ring dunk and once I had finished my pitcher of beer, I couldn't hide my huge crush on him. We went on our first official date the next day and we've been inseparable ever since. -Caitlin Caitlin and I met during our Freshman year of college at Texas A&M while hanging out with mutual friends. Little did I know that this small encounter would be the first of many. After that initial meeting, it seemed like every few months we’d run into each other at parties, football games, and ring dunks, and each time we spoke more and more. It went on like this for the good part of the next two years of college, each encounter bringing deeper conversation and familiarity. That is to say, Caitlin was blind and couldn’t see I was head over heels for her, but I’m glad she didn’t, because in retrospect, I wasn't ready, but God had a plan. In January of 2023, his plan became visible at RCIA. I had just started, and it was the second week of class, so people were still joining. In walks Caitlin, and I was so surprised and curious as to what brought her to RCIA, but I curbed my curiosity because I wasn’t in RCIA for a “meet cute”. But I continued to pray about it, and in April 2023, I finally decided to go up and talk to her. So during class that day, I went up and said “Hi,” and once we both realized, “Yes, this is that person I kept running into,” Caitlin invited me to her ring dunk that Saturday. (Which she had been planning for a month before I talked to her). Saturday comes, and of course, I am running late, but I make it in time for the dunk. After Caitlin chugged a whole pitcher of beer and didn’t throw up, she couldn’t hide what her eyes were saying. The next day, we went on our first official date after mass that Sunday, and by May 20th, 2023, we officially started dating. -Christopher

Proposal

January 3rd, 2025

On Friday January 3rd, I had a rough day at work and Chris was coming to town for a date night before leaving for our ski trip the next day. I was cranky but Chris said we could try a new bar in downtown San Antonio where I had a delicious Paloma and slowly just started to relax and enjoy his company while we daydreamed about our trip the next day. Before dinner, Chris asked if we could take a walk around downtown and we walked past San Fernando Cathedral where Chris got down on one knee and asked me to marry him which was the best surprise that could've happened and then we went to dinner with our family to celebrate and it was better than I could've ever imagined! -Caitlin The story of the proposal starts in November of 2024, Thanksgiving to be exact. During the school break, I set out to find the perfect ring for Caitlin. She had given me “hints,” so I went in having an idea of what she liked, but I wanted something special. Turns out finding the ring is the easy part, once I had chosen the ring, finding and planning the time to propose became difficult. Finally, after delays and working around schedules, we had a date: Friday, January 3rd. The plan was set in motion as I set up a date night disguise for Caitlin, attempting to get her out of the house unsuspiciously. Friday finally came, and I was very giddy and excited as I drove into SA. I arrived in SA to a restless Caitlin who had a tough day at work and no longer wanted to go out to dinner, but rather stay in. After some convincing, I was able to get her out the door, and off we went to Downtown SA for dinner. Before dinner, I took her to a bar near the restaurant for a drink. The bar was also walking distance from the San Fernando Cathedral, where both of our families were setting up for the proposal. Once I got the green light, we made our way to the cathedral, laughing and talking like normal. We approached the front entrance, tried to go inside, but it was locked. Then, after a delicious Paloma, Caitlin turns and says, " This would be a great place to propose!". Then she proceeds to get down on one knee! She stole my thunder! But the look on her face as I pulled her in, poured my heart, and slowly sank to my knee was one of shock. It wasn't a bit anymore, it was the real thing. After the “Yes”, both of our families came out, and we took pictures in front of the Cathedral and ended the night with a family dinner at La Focaccia Italian Grill, a place my Dad loved to go, and we enjoyed as a family! The night was everything I hoped it would be, and it will forever be one of the happiest moments of my life! -Christopher

Since the Proposal

2025

Since the proposal, I started Physical Therapy School at UT Health San Antonio and Chris has been a part of the entire process and has always been nothing but supportive. For most of the year, we got to enjoy our engagement while settling into our jobs and school and in August, we decided on a wedding date and have enjoyed daydreaming about our wedding, honeymoon, and marriage ever since. We also became Aunt and Uncle to beautiful baby Sophie and baby Chiara got to witness our families grow. Through the hard days, he continues to remind me of my why, he has helped plan dates and trips. He is one of my biggest supporters and I grow more thankful every day, I can't imagine being where I am today without him and it makes me so excited about our future together! -Caitlin Since the Proposal, I’ve had two jobs in two cities and two different industries. I began 2025 in Mansfield, TX, where I learned a lot about myself and the strength of my bond with Catilin. We were long-distance for most of 2025; she was locked in on school, and I was at work. While we made it work, in October, I decided to move back home to be closer to my growing family and Caitlin. In March, we welcomed baby Sophie, and we became Tia and Tio to our first niece. This year, we welcomed baby Chiara into our family, and it has been a beautiful sight to see our family grow and change. Through all the seasons' changes, my love for Caitlin has only grown since the Proposal. I’ve gotten to support her in pursuing her dream of becoming a PT which has been inspiring. We’ve also had opportunities to travel, taking trips to Colorado and South Carolina and embarking on our 2nd cruise this spring. Life can be hard, the road is narrow, but when I’m walking with Caitlin, I don’t see the obstacle or the scary, narrow road; I see a dancefloor, a canvas, and she brings childlike joy out of me. -Christopher
