- Mercado artesanal (be very careful with your purse, phone, etc). Bargaining is normal here. - Designers society (cool clothes and accessories, all made in Ecuador). - Mall el Jardin / Quicentro (if you need clothing like Zara, Mango, NafNaf, Esprit, etc). - Supermaxi / Mi Comisariato (supermarket, groceries). - Medicity / Fybeca / Pharmacys (drugstores)
We don't recommend renting a car (unless you have experience driving in Latin America). Ubers are really cheap, and it's the best option to move around the city, but you can use regular cabs as well.
As a general rule, we do not encourage foreigners to walk around Quito (especially in the evening/night). If you do want to walk around don't take any valuables and be very aware of your surroundings. Remember you're traveling to a Latin American country, tourists are easily identifiable, and thieves are very skillful.
