Our favorite places to eat in town are Blue Ocean, The Compass, and Pizza Port. A few other highly recommended restaurants are 264 Fresco and Bluewater Grill.

This unique trail located along the coastal beaches of Carlsbad is a favorite for walking and running, as well as a popular people- and dolphin-watching. 1.4 mile out and back. If you are staying at Best Western or Spring Hill the Sea Wall is across the street.

Located one town over in Oceanside. You can take the coaster from the Carlsbad Village one stopover to Oceanside. The Oceanside transportation center is a 12 min walk to the Pier. Standing 1,942 feet long, the historical Oceanside Pier is one of the most iconic landmarks. Loved by visitors and locals alike, the wooden Pier is the perfect location to take a leisurely stroll, go fishing or watch surfers. Since its original construction in 1888, the Pier continues to serve as the backdrop for signature O’side events.

This is our favorite restaurant in all of North County. It is one town over in Oceanside. 20-minute walk if you are staying at the Scandia Motel. Quick 5-7 minute drive from the other hotels. The menu is all Vegan.

The coaster is available from the Village train station. The coaster goes along the ocean the views are fantastic. It is a quick 10 min ride and drops you in the middle of downtown Encinitas. Or a 13-minute drive from Carlsbad Village. Mark’s favorite place on 101. Feel like you are back in time with their 70’s decor — 30 taps of mind-bending tasty beer. Delicious food. They have sours and cider too. Vegan options

15 Minute drive from Carlsbad Village. Length: 1.5 miles roundtrip. At about .6 miles, you can climb through an epic slot canyon. You can also skip this part and stay on the main loop. The views are amazing. This wetland is filled with over 1,000 species of plants and animals. The trail takes you through lush greenery to a viewpoint overlooking the ocean.

25-minute drive from Carlsbad Village. This reserve offers gorgeous hiking trails, incredible views, and even a trail that takes you right down to the ocean. There are eight miles of Torrey Pines hiking trails total on the five hikes available. Beach Trail Length: 1.5 miles takes you to the ocean. Parry Grove Trail Length: 1 mile loop. Guy Fleming Trail Length: .7 mile loop. Razor Point Trail Length: 1.4 miles round trip. Broken Hill Trail Length: 2.5 miles roundtrip.
