It all started during spring break of freshman year in Fort Lauderdale. Rachel and Connor were introduced through mutual friends but didn’t strike up a conversation until the last day. Rachel thought Connor was cute—especially when she realized everyone else thought so too. Connor, on the other hand, was a little intimidated by Rachel's bold personality but couldn’t deny her smile. After spring break, they became inseparable, though they insisted they were “just friends.” That summer they kept in touch and by the time sophomore year began, Connor realized what Rachel already knew—that they were meant to be more than friends. He finally asked Rachel to be his girlfriend. They spent the rest of college side by side, sharing everything from late-night study sessions to the excitement of graduation. After college, they took the next big step, moving in together in Lexington. Not long after, they decided to start their next chapter by the coast, building a life together in Charleston. Fast forward to a Thursday evening in May, Connor planned a date night, telling Rachel they had dinner reservations at a restaurant they’d been dying to try. Rachel wasn’t feeling dinner that night and even tried to cancel, but Connor insisted they go—claiming they’d be charged if they didn’t. She quickly got ready, clueless about the evening’s true significance. Throughout dinner, Connor was nervous, sweating as he carried the ring in his pocket. Afterward, they headed to the beach for some wine—something they often did on date nights. As they drove farther down Isle of Palms than usual, Rachel grew curious, but Connor simply said he wanted to show her a new spot he’d found. When they arrived, they walked down a path sprinkled with flower petals. Rachel, oblivious to what was happening didn’t realize it was for her. They walked up to the flower-covered space then, Connor took her hand and said, “I’ve been thinking about what I’d say in this moment for a long time, and one word comes to mind: lucky.” Now, we feel so lucky to have you join us as we say “I do.” Your love and support mean the world to us, and we can’t wait to celebrate this special day with all of you!
