First, lets just start by saying I had, without a doubt, been waiting for Tommy to pop the question. I’m sure it could have been annoying at times, but I couldn’t help myself. I was ready and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. You see, he is everything I need in life. Simple as that.. well, our night began in New Orleans, we had planned a birthday dinner, for Tommy’s dad, Mr. Tommy. My grandmother and parents were invited, as were his. His Nanny, Mary, Tommy’s brother, Sean, and his Uncle Rene, but nothing new to my knowledge. I had just hoped for a good picture night, since our closest family were present. I even had the thought cross my mind that day, “if he really knew me well, he’d know tonight would be absolutely perfect timing”. As we arrive to dinner, my dad had tripped after parking on the New Orleans streets. About 25 horses were trotting down Tchoupitoulas, & yes, you read that correctly. 25 horses, makes sense the man fell! Anyways, our night became a bit worriesome after that event. Thankfully, my dad was ok! We had a nice unplanned private dinning area in the back of Tommy’s Cuisine... the irony. I honestly didn’t think much of it. Tommy had mentioned it, we had not been before, and we got a gift card for Christmas. I thought, what a perfect place?! Little did I know, it WAS the perfect place! After, moving our 6ft apart tables closer and ordering a bottle of red wine, San Simeon, Pinot Nior 2018, we began speaking amongst each other as per usual dinner gatherings. Tommy said something to me along the lines of “don’t get anything on that pretty shirt of yours”, and I truly thought laughingly, “what a strange thing for him to say to me? I am not a messy eater!” I had a quick conversation with my grandmother across the table, and when I turned back to Tommy, he had a box in his hand and a HUGE smile on his face. I knew exactly what it was, but I couldn’t believe it! I smiled so big, and replied “stop it,”... to be continued!
Tommy opened the box, dropped the ring! Lots of laughs and excitement to follow. He picked it up so quickly, placed it back into the box and stated “Hannah, I love you. I love the way you love me. Will you marry me?!” He had so much happiness in his eyes and I couldn’t begin to explain the happiness in my heart! I respond with “Yes. Thank You!” It’s kind of funny to think, •Thank you•, but I had never been more thankful for anything in my life. My best friend, my support system, and my guide in life, just asked me to spend the rest of our lives together amongst the people who mean the most to me! My 93 year old grandmother, and our only remaining grandparent, was there to witness the greatest day of our lives. “Thank you” is the only thing I could possibly think! Needless to say, lots of happy tears flowed with laughs and well wishes. An awesome gathering with congratulating friends around a fire followed! That night, January 16th, 2021, was the greatest night of my life. As I write this little letter to you all, with happy tears in my eyes, I can’t imagine how much happiness I will have on our wedding day. To have each of you present to witness the next joyful event in our lives, is beyond words. We are so grateful and excited to start our life adventure with each of you. Love, Hannah
