Hello all! Connor and I have been getting a lot of questions about our wedding recently. As I'm sure you've guessed by now, our original 200 person June 13th wedding is not going to work anymore! I actually have a box of 200 invitations in my closet that were never sent. That's okay! In the famous words of Ross Geller, we're "PIVOT"-ing. SO, here's the plan- Connor and I plan to get married in the next month or so as planned. This will likely be a small socially-distant immediate-family ceremony. We are SO, so excited to get married, but are sad you all won't be with us to celebrate that special day. HOWEVER! We DO want to celebrate with you all soon. While it is impossible to pick a for sure date right now, we WILL have a reception whenever it is safe! Thank you to everyone loving us and supporting our new marriage! We are so excited and love you all. Between the two of us, Connor and I recently realized we own a few mismatched towels and maybe a rogue spoon or two...lol...a bit of an exaggeration but that's how it feels right now. We are moving into our new house June 1st! Yay! If you would like to support us, we do have a registry on this website. We also understand that this is not the best economic climate for most. Anyways, we are super excited to get married!!! Read below for the story of how we got engaged!
We met at a soccer game after church in 2016 and Connor dubbed me "American Pale Ale" and put me in his phone as "Tanner church blonde" (this wasn't changed until a few months ago!!!) Over the years, through many pranks, heated debates, and me refusing to date him, he finally wore me down (just kidding). I realized he was the best man I knew (and typically the person who could press my buttons the easiest). I knew when I said yes to dating him, I was ultimately saying yes to marrying him. It was the best decision I have ever made, and the best decision I continue to make every single day.
The ultimate goal was to propose at Verde Valley School's Gretchen Warren Chapel. Tanner's grandpa Jim helped to build the chapel and her parents were married in it. It had to be there. I told Tanner that we were meeting my parents at the chapel for family pictures on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Tanner might have suspected something but I had told her that I was going to wait to propose until I had spoken with both her parents and I had yet to meet with her dad... or so she thought. I had snuck down to Cave Creek a few months earlier to speak with him. When Tanner walked into the chapel, she had her arms crossed and she was dragging her feet. She was cold and therefore, not happy. I led her to the large picturesque window and... the rest is kind of blur. What I do remember is Tanner's face during the 20 seconds after I got on one knee. I could watch her thought process. "I know for a FACT that Connor is pranking me right now..?" "This is a trick and I know it and I am not going to let him win." "He... Maybe this is real..." "He is still on his knee, I think I have to respond soon." "OH MY GOD THIS IS REAL THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!" She then lept into my arms and koala hugged me while hysterically laughing. That is basically the story but I can't use hand motions so ask me about it if you want more details.
