Het begon allemaal in 2019 op een van Connor’s studentenfeestjes. Een gemeenschappelijke vriendin, Maddie Meyer (shoutout naar Maddie!), stelde ons aan elkaar voor, en er was meteen een klik. Of het nu was door elkaar te imponeren met onze geografische kennis of stiekem meteen na het feest elkaar te volgen op sociale media, we voelden dat er iets speciaals was. Na een semester in de VS verhuisde ik terug naar België. Maar zelfs met een oceaan tussen ons bleven we in contact—ondanks de chaos van de Covid-19 pandemie en Connor’s basisopleiding bij het leger. Toen ik terug naar de VS ging om mijn master af te ronden, werden we onafscheidelijk. We woonden samen, wandelden, kookten en genoten van het leven. Toen mijn werkvisum in januari 2024 afliep, verhuisde ik terug naar België. Rond diezelfde tijd begon Connor zich voor te bereiden op zijn missie met het leger. Ondanks de afstand die tussen ons lag, besloten we deze uitdaging samen aan te gaan. Nu we werken aan de volgende stap om weer samen te zijn, hebben we een "Fiancé Visa" aangevraagd (ja, net zoals in 90 Day Fiancé!). Zodra alle papierwerk geregeld is, verhuis ik naar de VS en gaan we officieel trouwen. Omdat we altijd al onze liefde in beide landen wilden vieren, is dit verlovingsfeest ook meteen ons huwelijksfeest in België. Dit is onze manier om dit bijzondere moment met jullie allemaal te delen voordat het volgende avontuur begint. Bedankt dat jullie deel uitmaken van deze fijne dag!
It all started in 2019 at one of Connor’s fraternity parties. A mutual friend, Maddie Meyer (big shoutout to Maddie!), introduced us, and we instantly hit it off. Whether it was impressing each other with our geography skills or sneakily following one another on social media right after the party, we knew there was something special. After a semester in the US, I moved back home to Belgium. But even with an ocean between us, we stayed in touch—through the whirlwind of the Covid-19 pandemic and Connor’s Basic Training with the Army. When I returned to the US to finish my master’s degree, we became inseparable. We spent our time living, hiking, cooking, and simply enjoying life together. In January 2024, I moved back to Belgium as my work visa came to an end. Around the same time, Connor began preparing for his deployment with the Army. Despite the distance ahead, we decided to face this together. Now, as we work through the steps to reunite, we’ve filed for a fiancé visa (yes, like the 90 Day Fiancé show!). Once the paperwork is sorted, I’ll move to the US, and we’ll officially tie the knot. Since we’ve always dreamed of celebrating our love in both countries, this engagement party doubles as our wedding in Belgium. It’s our way of sharing this special moment with all of you before the next adventure begins. Thank you for being part of our journey!
