We fell in love over ten years ago, in the midst of our senior year at Camarillo High School. While we had similar friend groups, we both secretly wanted to be much more than friends and had harbored major crushes for each other for over a year. But it felt forbidden- Connor was the popular football co-captain; I was a bookworm already gearing up for college and medical school. Eventually, a mutual friend set us up and Connor asked me to senior prom in 2012 (we even won prom prince and princess!). We were soon inseparable and fell in love quickly. After high school, Connor moved to Colorado to attend CU Boulder, while I moved to San Diego to attend UCSD. Our love for each other only deepened and matured as we endured five years of long-distance. While it was incredibly difficult to see each other only four times a year, it allowed us to realize how deeply we loved each other. Starting in 2018, Connor moved back to California to finish his biomedical graduate education, while I began medical school in SoCal. We have been together through it all... high school, college, post-grad life- all of it. We are genuinely the best of friends and are so lucky to continue to fall deeply in love with each other every single day. Connor is the best thing that has ever happened to me- he really is the kindest, funniest, most supportive and loving fiancé I could ever ask for. Words will never be able to encapsulate how excited we are to spend the rest of our lives together. We have waited almost a decade for this special, emotional day- and we are thrilled to have you share it with us!
I proposed to Kaitlyn on September 5, 2020 in our hometown of Camarillo. It was very difficult to keep my plans a secret because if you know Kaitlyn, you know that it is impossible to keep anything a surprise. I started the day by taking Kaitlyn out to our favorite breakfast cafe and handed her the first of several handwritten love letters. I then drove us to the seaside town of Summerland in order to explore the cove and take her to an oceanfront winery. As we enjoyed the views and wine, I gave her another love letter. (At this point, she started to tear up and was suspicious that I was going to propose). I then drove her to a hilltop park in Santa Barbara for an outdoor lunch (and handed her the third love letter). Finally, I drove us back to Camarillo (at this point, she thought the day was over and that I wasn't going to propose). But, instead of driving her back home, I drove us to a secret and meaningful location within the hills of Santa Rosa Valley. I got down on one knee, shared a few private vows with her, and proposed. I’ve told Kaitlyn this many times, but I honestly believe that we are soulmates and that God sent her to Earth to be with me. I just cannot wait to make her my wife.
