Travel Note
If you choose to travel by air, we’d recommend flying into either Los Angeles (LAX), Ontario (ONT), Palm Springs (PSP), or John Wayne Airport (SNA). LAX (recommended) will more than likely be the cheapest option, while ONT would be the closest drive into Big Bear (little over an hour). Keep in mind all of these options would require you to have a rental vehicle, as there is no way to fly directly into Big Bear.
Travel Note
If you choose to travel by road, the trip is about 2 hrs from LA, 5.5 hrs from PHX, & 20 hrs from Tulsa. We recommend you take the I-10 through San Bernardino once in California, although you can also take the slightly longer but more scenic route through Joshua Tree. However, if you do decide to go through Joshua Tree, plan for a 100-mile stretch on state route 62 with no gas stations or places to stop.
Travel Note
If you plan on staying in Big Bear for just the night or even the whole weekend, there’s a multitude of lodging options available in/around the city. Camping, RV parks, hostels, hotels, motels, resorts, cabins, and Airbnbs are all possibilities here. It really just depends on what you’re comfortable with and how much you’re willing to spend. Currently, we do not have an official place that we’ll be lodging yet, but we’ll keep you updated. Additionally, we’ll also be looking into the possibility of reserving a hotel block for guests. We’ll let you know if this is an option as soon as we can.
