We met at a Fourth of July BBQ in 2015. Always one for themes, Carolyn decided to wear a blue and white striped shirt to the party. When she got there, she noticed a tall, blond boy from across the lawn who was wearing a similar patterned blue and white striped shirt, laughing with some friends. As they walked in, her sister, Liz, teasingly said "Hey, Care, that boy is wearing the same shirt as you, you should go say hi." Carolyn blushed and said "maybe after some liquid courage." Later on in the party, while sparklers were being lit, Connor and Carolyn started talking, and the sparks started flying...

We were planning to ski at Whiteface and stay at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid for Carolyn's birthday. We had a rare great day skiing Whiteface (aka. Ice face) and the night of her birthday we had a delicious dinner at the Mirror Lake Inn restaurant called "The View." The whole time at dinner I was trying to keep my cool thinking about proposing after dinner and had already picked out the spot. After dinner we go back up to the suite and I tell her to come out to the balcony with me and close her eyes. I get down on one knee and proceed to basically snap the box in half as I open it with excitement and finally pop the question. She of course says Yes! and I go get just one more surprise which is a bottle of 2010 Dom Perignon to celebrate!
