Cheers to the Lani Kai and Mackenzie Crosswait for bringing us together after a spring break trip to Florida. Ken came back and gushed about the group they hung out with over the week and couldn’t wait to introduce me. We were all inseparable after that, spending the summer at the meadows pool laughing a LOT, jamming out to Connor’s playlists, and way too many pizzas and 4lokos. Where friendship turned into our first date in Grand Haven and being in each others lives for almost 10 years, 2 apartments, 1 house, and 2 dogs later we get to spend the rest of our lives together!!!
The day started with a Riley Rae Clay jewelry market to roaming the Christmas tree lighting celebration in downtown Grand Rapids! We were a little early to the festivities and not dressed in winter gear for the chilly afternoon but Connor wanted to stroll over to the parade and ice rink to snag a couple of pictures. Santa Baby blaring in the background, Connor got down on one knee. Ashley cried crocodile tears, cheers erupted from the ice rink and it truly felt like a hallmark Christmas movie moment. We celebrated by trying our luck at a restaurant off Bridge Street, where a three hour wait turned into 5 minutes after we told the hostess we just got engaged (like 10 minutes ago!) We enjoyed some bubbles and a snack while Connor spilled all his planning and ring designing he’d been keeping from me… it was truly our favorite day yet!
