The Right Place at The Right Time

12.10.18

On December 10, 2018, while attending a Milestone Church Growth Track Christmas party in Southlake, TX, Alyssa and Connor first laid eyes on each other. Alyssa noticed Connor first thing when she walked in. Connor caught a glance of Alyssa from the back patio while eating his second-serving of tacos from the food bar. Exchanging glances throughout the evening and still mingling with the rest of the party, they did their best to eventually cross paths - with no success. Was this love at first sight? Connor left the Christmas party convinced if this mystery girl really is that special someone, an answered prayer, he would soon cross paths with her again. Little did he know, that would happen the very next evening. The following day, Alyssa was preparing for a dessert meeting held at the church that night when she realized the handsome boy she had seen at the Christmas party was going to be at the meeting. She couldn’t miss her chance to meet him this time. That night, Connor walked through the church doors heading toward the meeting room when he recognized the girl he tried to meet the night before. As he picked up his name badge, Alyssa was quick to hold out her hand and say, “Hi, I’m Alyssa. You were at the Christmas party last night, right?” The two had a brief conversation that lasted 30 seconds, yet that was all they needed to know there was something special between the two of them. In the following week, with the help of mutual friends, they went on a group dinner date after a Saturday night church service at Legacy Hall in Plano, TX. It was an instant connection as they got to know one another. Conversing at the table long after the group left for the concert outside, they laughed and shared their stories and dreams for the future. At the end of the night, Connor asked for Alyssa's phone number and told her he would love to take her on a date; just the two of them.

Girl's Night Turned Proposal

8.8.19

Eight months later, on August 8, 2019, Connor asked Alyssa a very important question, “Will you marry me?” In the late spring and summer months, conversation on a future engagement arose between the two. When and how Connor would ask was unknown to Alyssa - despite her numerous attempts to find out. Call it collusion; Connor would plan a girl’s night out for Alyssa with some of her close friends, and before the night’s end ask the big question. It would be a night where they would go out for dinner, take friend pictures and Alyssa would even pick the spot they would go for ice cream. Never did she think this girl's night would end the way that it did! Following dinner and ice cream at one of Alyssa and Connor’s favorite spots, Kilwins, her friends mentioned they knew of a beautiful venue on Lake Grapevine that was perfect for outdoor photos at sunset. Strategically upon arrival, the owner of the venue was outside watering a flower garden (totally in on the plan). She welcomed Alyssa and her friends on the property, sharing information about the venue while walking them around the back toward the lake. The stage was set. Connor was in place hiding behind an archway around the corner, Alyssa’s friends armed and ready to video capture the surprise, and minutes away from the perfect sunset over the lake. As Alyssa turned the corner of the garden path, Connor stepped out to Alyssa’s full excitement as she ran to him with open arms! Actually, that was Connor’s plan. Alyssa was so shocked at first and could not believe that her girl’s night out had turned into seeing Connor in a suit at such a romantic place. They met half-way when Connor asked Alyssa that very important question. She said, “Yes!”
