Last summer we decided to have our house checked for mold. The main reason we had it tested was because Oliver was very sick and had some test results come back that showed he had very high mold toxicity (30 is normal and his was 97.5 in two different molds). The house tested very high in several different kinds of molds including the very toxic and dangerous “Black Mold”. The mold was in our walls and was filling our house with mycotoxins (byproduct of molds) which can have dangerous health side effects. The doctor suggested moving out of our home immediately and thankfully our church had a “Missions Home” that we could move into right away. We basically had to throw out about 80-85% of everything in our home because of the contamination from the molds. We had a group of “angel” friends come help us clean out our home, including taking pictures of everything “paper” (all documents, photos, paintings etc.) We are so grateful for each and everyone that came to help during those 3 months. They were God’s hands and feet of love. Thank you to all those who have donated financially during this time. It has been such a blessing and gift from the Lord. We decided to sell the house ”as is” and did not remediate it (which would have been tearing the house down to the studs, removing the toxins, cleaning it and starting over from scratch). Through miracle after miracle we were able to sell our house for reasonable amount. Then through more miracles the Lord led us to a new housing subdivision called Lakes at Black Oak where we purchased a home to build. We have been “nomads” for the past 8 months, in which we are so grateful to all the different friends who allowed us to stay in their homes. We will have moved 9 times by the time we move into our home and so we will be so grateful to settle in and make it our new home.
Through this all the Lord has taught us many things, strengthened our faith, shown us his amazing grace, overwhelmed us with his love, and has proven himself so faithful and trustworthy. We are praising God for his abounding mercy through this all. We are still praying for full recovery for Oliver’s health. Thank you to each one of you for journeying with us through this very unusual time. Many of you have asked if you could help us settle into our new home. Several had suggested a “House Warming” party. So, in keeping with “social distancing”, we decided to do a Zoom party and a "Registry” for those who wanted to donate in a practical tangible way to help us to make our house a home. Since we had lost a major portion of our possessions to the mold we are now starting to rebuild our household from almost scratch. We have registered at Amazon and Bed Bath and Beyond. The Lord has encouraged us that this is a time of “New Beginnings”. We are excited for “new beginnings” in ministry in our new neighborhood. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, and are called according to his purpose.”
