FAQs

The Wedding Website of Connie Alvarado and Joshua Smith
All your questions answered (or at least the ones we could think of!). If you’re wondering, it’s probably in here.
Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

The official check-in day is Monday, July 5, 2027 at 4pm, and festivities kick off that evening! If you want to come early and explore Lisbon, even better. Just make sure you're there in time for our welcome night 🥂.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

At the venue — with us! We’ve reserved rooms for everyone and already paid for the 2-night stay (July 5–7). No need to book anything — just show up, check in, and let the good times roll.

Question

What are the accommodations going to be like?

Answer

We're so excited to have everyone staying close together for the wedding! It's going to feel like the best kind of adult sleepover (with better sheets and no curfew). The wedding venue is actually a guesthouse not a hotel, so while there’s no 24-hour reception desk or room service, there is a staff member staying on-site at all times in case of emergencies. So you’ll still be looked after if anything comes up! Here’s what you can expect: We’ve booked out the entire venue to host as many of you as possible — our treat! Once we finalize the guest list, we’ll assign rooms and let you know where you’ll be cozying up! Room amenities include: ✔️ Air conditioning (hot + cold) ✔️ Towels & shower gel/shampoo ✔️ Blow dryer (except in Room 6 — sorry, Room 6) ✔️ Extra blankets ✔️ Bottled water + glasses ✔️ Breakfast every morning (yes, coffee included!) ✔️ Hangers for your wedding best What you won’t find: ✘ Mini fridge ✘ Kettle ✘ Room service (but honestly, we’ll be eating together most of the time!) Need to de-wrinkle your outfit? There’s a shared iron in the Tree House and a steamer at the Bridal House for everyone to use.

Question

What if I want to book my own room?

Answer

Need a little more space? If you’d prefer a different room or need extra accommodation, the venue has 17 additional rooms available for an extra cost: 10 Double Rooms – €90/night 4 Twin Rooms – €90/night 1 Quadruple Room – €110/night The Oven Room – €150/night The Vineyard House – €150/night Need even more options? We’ve got you! Within a 5km radius of the venue, there are other great accommodation options. If you’re interested, just ask us and we’ll happily share the contact details.

Question

Is breakfast included?

Answer

Yes! Breakfast will be available both mornings (Tuesday and Wednesday). Fuel up before the big day and before your farewell hugs.

Question

Will there be transportation provided?

Answer

We’ll be sharing transportation details soon (shuttles, rideshares, pigeon back — just kidding). Check back here closer to the date or keep an eye on your email.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

If your invite says “+1,” then yes — we’d love to meet them! If not, we wish we could invite everyone, but we're keeping things cozy and curated.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

For the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, dress to impress in semi-formal or cocktail attire. Think summer wedding chic — suits, dresses, jumpsuits, all welcome! Just keep Lisbon’s cobblestones in mind when picking shoes. We recommend stylish flats, low heels, or comfy dressy sandals (save the stilettos for Instagram).

Question

What to Pack – Stylish & Smart

Answer

✅ Passport (!!!) ✅ Formal/cocktail attire for the wedding ✅ Comfy day clothes for exploring Lisbon ✅ A light jacket or wrap — Lisbon evenings can cool off, even in July ✅ European plug adapter and maybe a portable charger for all the pics ✅ Sunglasses & sunscreen ✅ Walking shoes (Lisbon = hills + cobblestones = a leg workout) ✅ A mini fan or handkerchief (for that summer-in-Europe heat) ✅ Your best dance moves 💃🕺

Question

What kind of weather can we expect in July?

Answer

Expect sunny skies and warm temps (mid-80s°F / high 20s°C). Lightweight clothes and sunscreen are your best friends.

Question

What language do people speak in Lisbon?

Answer

Portuguese is the official language, but English is widely spoken in the city. Bonus points if you try a little Portuguese — “Olá!” and “Obrigado!” go a long way.

Question

What is the currency and tipping culture?

Answer

Most places take cards, but it’s handy to have some Euros (€) for markets or pastries. Tipping is not required, but rounding up or leaving a few euros for great service is appreciated!

Question

What are the must-eat foods?

Answer

Pastel de nata (custard tart from heaven) Bifana (spicy pork sandwich) Bacalhau (cod — like, 1,000 ways to eat it) Anything with local cheese and olives Port wine & vinho verde — cheers to that!
