It’s funny how life works. The night we met wasn’t planned, romantic, or even particularly special at first. It was just a regular Saturday night. My sister and I were supposed to hang out, but she suggested we make a quick stop at a little “kickback” at one of my brother’s closest friends was hosting. We walked in and the place was full people laughing, vibing, music going, the usual weekend energy. I didn’t notice Jermel at all. Not a glance, not a spark, nothing. Life was just life-ing. Two weeks later, out of nowhere, I get a text from Jermel saying “So did you kick me to the curb?” We set up another date bowling this time and something clicked. And now here we are engaged, in love, and building a life that started with a random kickback, a last-minute shot, and a text that still makes me smile.
