How We Met - Connie's Version

A random MySpace friend request the summer before our freshman year in high school is what started it all. I was getting ready to start the school year at a new school with only a handful of friends, so my friend and I decided to start early and make new friends online. Looking back this probably wasn’t a safe idea! I stumbled upon Raul’s profile and thought hey he’s hot, so I sent him a friend request. Our first week into high school we ran into each other in a stairwell and I looked at Raul and said, “Hey, are you, Raul?” Before Raul could even respond I quickly got distracted and walked away with a friend. Then one day as I was walking out of the girl’s locker room for soccer practice, I saw Raul again in the gym during his basketball practice. I pointed Raul out to a friend who also happened to know him and asked her to introduce us. After this, we became friends and had small conversations here and there throughout the school year. I honestly didn’t think we would become anything other than friends. Then at the end of the school year, I was blindsided with a note I received from Raul professing his love for me! He then FINALLY asked me out on a date and the rest was history!

How We Met -Raul's Version

At the end of summer, going into my freshman year, I get a friend request on MySpace from Connie. I see her profile picture and think she’s cute and so I accepted her friend request. In our first week of freshman year, I’m walking down the stairs, and someone taps my shoulder and says, “Hey, are you, Raul?” I was caught off guard, and before I can say yes, she was gone. I knew it was Connie, though. A few weeks later, I was at basketball practice when one of our mutual friends introduced us, and we had officially met in person. We had small conversations throughout the school year and continued to chat on Myspace LOL. At the end of the school year, I decided that I needed to tell her how I felt about her, so I finally gathered the courage to message her on MySpace. Soon after telling Connie, I had to leave for Mexico for the summer. There I couldn’t stop thinking about her and couldn’t wait to get back. When I got back from Mexico, we went on our first date to the movies. A few dates later, I asked Connie to be my girlfriend. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. Connie’s straight long hair, mustard-colored polo shirt, blue jeans, and brown sandals, looking beautiful, and me feeling nervous with sweating hands. She said, yes! Fast forward 13 years, I get to marry my high school sweetheart! My love for Connie grows stronger each day God blesses me with another day of life! One friend request started a journey of unforgettable adventures, memories, and unconditional love. Big shout out to our guy Tom from Myspace for putting us down!
