They say the best way to meet someone is through a mutual friend, and I have to say... that is exactly what happened for us. One of Matthew's closest friends, Tommy Robinson, happens to be my cousin. Tommy and Matthew came to visit me at my aunt's house, and Tommy's father (Tom) insisted Matthew take me on a date. If you know Tommy, you know he is a very fun and hilarious person so naturally it turned into this big chat about how we would get along so well and that we both needed to just go have fun. Despite how much I fought him and told him he was being embarrassing, Matthew thought otherwise. He asked me to go ride four wheelers with him one Thursday night and took me to dinner. That was pretty much that and so began our Happily Ever After.
The way that Matthew proposed is very special to my heart. In Belleview there is a small lake, more of a pond, called Lake Lillian. This is the place that Matthew's father (Pat) proposed to his mother (Dana). The morning when he asked we had went to breakfast at our favorite place in town, The Farmhouse. Afterward, we walked out to his truck that he had parked by the lake where Matthew told me he had a gift for me. Expecting some random item he found at the Georgia swap meet the day before I was completely shocked when out came a small black box and inside was the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. He proposed to me there by lake and I am so excited to start this journey with the love of my life.
