Colin and Mae have always known of each other for years before pursuing their relationship. They've had mutual friends, attended the same parties, and even went to the same gym. Colin likes to joke that Mae was "too cool" to talk to him. Their first conversation started through Snapchat and eventually decided to first hang out by getting Chipotle. Although they were both hesitant with each other, they went out of their comfort zone and proceeded with their first hang out. The more they spent some time with each other, they both realized how much they liked each other. They would spend almost every single day with each other. January 2021, they decided to take their relationship to the next step and mutually agreed on dating. Although they seemed to have a good relationship, they both had their flaws, putting their relationship in a rough spot. They ended up taking a break August 2021 and took that time to grow and work on themselves. November 2021, they started talking again considering they were still going to the same gym and acted like they were strangers whenever they would see each other. From that point forward, they decided to be friends. But, the more they started talking again, they both realized that they still love each other and decided to give their relationship another try. The relationship has been growing strong since.
Colin told Mae that they were going to his "uncle's surprise birthday party" on Saturday, August 5, 2023. She thought nothing of it, despite him having her get her nails done beforehand and family members nonchalantly asking our "plans" for that Saturday. When they arrived at Wiley's Grill for the "surprise party," Colin had both of their families hidden in the corner of the restaurant, waiting for them to arrive. When she turned around the corner, she saw both of their families there. She was in complete shock, yet confused at first. From that point forward, she knew what was about to happen. Colin took her by the hand and walked Mae over to a spot right in front of both of their families to propose. He went down on one knee and said, "will you marry me?" She was in tears from being filled with so much happiness and said, "YES." We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!
