Will the wedding take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors on the front lawn at Pippin Hill. As it will be an April evening in the mountains, we would encourage ladies to bring a light shawl or jacket. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place under a covered veranda and the cocktail hour will be indoors. Dinner and dancing will take place indoors within the Granary space at Pippin Hill.

WILL TRANSPORTATION BE PROVIDED TO AND FROM THE HOTELS FOR THE WEDDING AND PREWEDDING EVENTS?

Answer

Transportation will be provided to and from the Omni Charlottesville and Pippin Hill before the wedding and after the reception. Shuttles will depart from the Omni at 5pm on Saturday. Please expect a 20 minute ride. The welcome party on Friday evening will take place at The 200 South Street, which is a 6-minute (0.3mi) walk from both the Omni and the Residence Inn and a 9-minute (0.4mi) walk from the Home2 Suites. The 200 South Street is also easily accessible via Uber or Lyft.

If you wish to drive, there is free parking available on-site at Pippin Hill.

What's the best airport to use?

Answer

Our guests may consider flying in for the weekend to the Charlottesville Ablemarle Airport (CHO). The airport offers direct flights to/from Atlanta (ATL), Charlotte (CLT), New York (LaGuardia - LGA), Washington, DC (Dulles - IAD), and Chicago (ORD). The airport is approximately 20 minutes from accommodations in downtown Charlottesville.

What is the weather like in the area?

Answer

Late April in Charlottesville typically ranges from highs in the mid-60s/70s during the day to lows in the mid 40s/50s at night. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to a covered veranda, and the cocktail hour and reception will be indoors.

What's the dress code?

Answer

For the welcome party, feel free to wear dressy casual clothing of your choice. For ladies, think fun sundresses, jumpsuits, nice top and pants, etc. For men, think chinos or dressy jeans with a button-down or polo. Our ceremony and reception will be black-tie optional. We request that men wear tuxedos or dark suits, and women wear formal dresses. Think garden party meets evening dinner - soft tones, muted florals, or natural textures. Feel free to wear color, pattern, or something that makes you feel celebratory. While the reception will be indoors, the ceremony will be on grass, so we encourage guests to consider shoe choices accordingly.

Is there a room block available?

Answer

We do not have a designated room block available at the Omni or the Residence Inn Charlottesville. You may book via regular channels on the hotel's website. We do have a room block at the Home2 Suites. See the "Travel" section of the website for additional information on accommodations.
