Our Story

I(Meagan) had just moved to McKinney. After a few months, I was looking for a crossfit gym. I saw a post online for a gym so I scheduled a consultation with a coach. I remember walking in and seeing Colton and was introduced to him by one of the other coaches. I kept seeing him at the gym and going to work out as usual. He ended up giving me his number(after I hinted according to him) and we started texting a little after that, just friends talking about gym stuff. Neither of us were looking for a serious relationship at the time. We were both enjoying our own lives, our friends and things we liked to do. We went out and hung out for about a year before we ever labeled our relationship and became exclusive. We were in no hurry to jump into anything which we both feel is what has made us a strong couple...we were friends first. We continued spending time together, just keeping it light and no pressure. I think this was the best thing for both of us. There came a day where something changed between us. It’s like we both decided to trust one another and admit what we wanted. Over time, feelings just grew and we both knew this was it. That’s the cliff note version ;-)

The Proposal

November 29, 2020 The night before we tried putting up our Christmas tree and when plugged in, one of the sections wouldn't light up which was very frustrating. The next day we ran around looking for a tree...Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes. Needless to say this time of year it was tough to find a decent tree. We finally found one after practically an all day hunt. That night we were going to put the tree. I made chicken and dumplings while he unboxed the tree. We turned on Home Alone which is my favorite Christmas movie. We(mostly me) were decorating the tree. Colton was putting the star on the top and it was crooked...so I climbed up trying to rig it to stay straight. I moved the ladder to the other side of the tree to finish getting it secured. He then said, "Hey, go ahead and put this one in that empty space since you're up there." I turned around thinking I was grabbing an ornament, but to my surprise he was holding a little box that lit up to illuminate a ring. I was truly shocked. After that it was a blur. Leggings, sweatshirt, messy bun and nails undone... but I wouldn't trade that moment for anything.

For all the days along the way
