Colton & I met at an 80’s dance at the Copper Country Bar & Grill in Bagdad. A friend and I were with a coworker who happened to know Colton & when he spotted her standing with us he decided to come say hi to the new “South Dakota Teachers”. After introducing himself, he asked if either my friend or I happened to have his nephew in class and it just so happens that I did! We managed to make conversation about school, how I was liking Arizona, and what South Dakota is like, the rest of the night. After a good night of conversation, we both went our separate ways. I didn’t really think I’d see him again, or if I did, I doubted that he would remember who I was. The next night, my friend and I decided to go check out a softball tournament that was going on in town. Colton happened to be playing in the softball tournament and spotted me from the field. He asked his friend (Mikey Morris) to cover for him so he could come talk to me (he was supposed to be umping). He smoothly made his way over to us and gave me a hug and we made casual conversation. My friend and I ended up leaving and again, I didn’t think I’d see him around any time soon. The next day I got a Facebook message from a Colton Chiantaretto and I was hoping, but didn’t know for sure if it was him. Obviously I did some creeping and realized that it was! After a few days of talking through Facebook and texting we started hanging out and it didn’t take long for him to ask me to be his girlfriend, which I gladly accepted! It was only a few short months later that we found out we would be welcoming our beautiful baby girl in July. Presley joined our little family on July 3rd, 2018 at 3:37pm. We have been enjoying watching her learn and grow since day one. She is absolutely the light of our lives.
Colton made my dream of a Christmas proposal come true on this past Christmas Eve in front of his parents and mine (via Facetime). The plan was that his parents were going to come over and we were gonna Facetime mine so they could all watch Presley open her presents from my parents and Colton and I. After Presley was done with her presents, Colton handed me a Starbucks bag, which was a present from him. I reached in and grabbed out a ceramic Starbucks coffee cup and was super excited because I’ve never had one before! I then handed Colton a present from me and he said, “There’s something else in there I think”. So I reached back in the bag and pulled out a little square box. When I opened it, there sat the most beautiful ring I have ever seen & I looked at Colton with my mouth hanging open in shock. That’s when he said, “Will you marry me?” I had to ask about 4 times if he was “for real” and then happily said, “YES!!” It was everything I could have asked for in a proposal and I’m so glad we got to share it with our parents!
