Colton and I met working at a restaurant along the Mississippi called The Water Bar (now called D'Lua on the River). He was back of the house (kitchen) and I was front of the house (server). As the saying goes, the relationship between the two inevitably turns into something. We went to the bars with our coworkers after a shift and I had to leave early due to another bartending job I had so I gave Colton a ride home. But we talked about going on a date together. The next night after my other shift, I saw him on FB messenger and asked why he was awake. (It was 3am and I just finished my bar shift at the Pearl Jam concert.) He said he wanted to bring some tea he wanted me to try to our next work shift.. and that was it. October 17, 2014 was actually our first "date" together and after countless attempts on going to a haunted house/planetarium -- on the 30th, we decided to finally to date. We've been together ever since: worked many jobs together, moved across the country, graduated college, accumulated too many plants/pets, had two rambunctious little kids, and celebrated all the "tea" days every year. The craziest part about all this is that we have been passing each other our entire lives. We went to the same preschool, he used to eat at my family's restaurants, and we have some connection with mutual friends throughout our childhood. I always tell him that we both moved back to the QCA (In our 20s -- he was in Olympia, WA and I was down in Carbondale, IL) to find each other.
