We were just some 14-year olds dancing on the dance floor at our homecoming dance when we caught a glimpse of each other. We had mutual friends that introduced us and a couple days later we started talking. We spent every single second together after that. Colton would ride his bike over to my house every day after school where we hung out in my garage or my basement and we just talked for hours and hours, getting to know each other. 8 years, two turtles, 2 houses, and multiple jobs later, we are ready to start the rest of our lives together.
It was a lazy, no-makeup, watching movies kind of Sunday afternoon. I hadn't brushed my teeth, showered or anything that day. Colton and I were watching movies when he said he was going downstairs and he would be right back up. I didn't think anything of it, just figured he was going downstairs to get a drink. A minute later I hear him yell, "Babe! Come down here." I threw a sweatshirt on and made my way downstairs where he was standing at the bottom with his mom, dad, and brother peaking around the corner. I looked at him and said, "What's going on?" That's when he asked the wonderful question and took me by complete surprise. I was thinking, "Are you sure you want to marry me? Considering I have smelly breath, messy hair, no deodorant on, and look like a bum." But then it hit me. We didn't know where we wanted to end up in life with our careers or where we wanted to live or how many kids we wanted to have. We were only sure of one thing, and that was us. So of course I said "Yes" and I can't wait to say "I do" on June 16th.
