The Puerto Vallarta Airport typically has long customs lines. Don't forget your passport! When you are out of customs and have received your luggage, you'll need to get a taxi or uber. The best place to get a taxi is outside of the airport, where there is a small queue. The taxi fee to Club Regina is typically 400MXN Pesos w/o tip. Cash, pesos, and cards are accepted. Note that the taxi fee from your hotel to the airport is less expensive.

Yes, you need a passport. To apply for one, use the US Passport site to apply. It could take a few months. https://www.usa.gov/apply-adult-passport If you are experiencing issues with attaining or updating your passport, here's a little trick. Contact your local congressman or congresswoman and write a personal email explaining the issue (delays, appointment backlogs, etc.) and local congress has the power to expedite the process.
