Kayla moved from Michigan to Wyoming for law school, and the only housing available was a townhouse with three male roommates. When she arrived in Laramie, it was Colton who opened the door. They became fast friends, bonding over shared interests and their mutual love for Myla. In their first few weeks of living together, they went camping in the Snowys, where they promptly lost Myla. Thankfully, she found her way back, but the scare became one of the first memories that solidified their new friendship. Colton taught Kayla how to ski and helped her navigate the early days of law school. They quickly grew to care for each other and knew, even then, that they always had each other's backs. Of course, Colton also had a special talent for driving Kayla crazy. He knew exactly how to push her buttons and never missed a chance, though he still insists he had no idea he was doing it. Eventually, Colton realized he was falling for Kayla, but she was still his roommate, so he kept things friendly until the day he moved out. Only then did he text her to confess that he had liked her for a while and wanted to take her on a date. Kayla was shocked, but she also knew that no matter what happened, their friendship was strong enough to remain, and that mattered most. What began as friendship turned into love effortlessly. Their foundation made everything feel steady, safe, and true. This is the kind of love they always dreamed of. They survived two summers of bar studying and of course to end such a crazy season, they planned a trip to Napa Valley, California. Colton planned most of the trip including wine tours, bike rides and incredible food. The best part though was the wine tour at Castello di Amorosa (the Castle of Love). It was set up on a hilltop overlooking several wineries. Colton and Kayla enjoyed the wine and then decided to take pictures before they left. Colton asked a group of strangers to take their picture and got down on one knee. Kayla was shocked and they both were so excited. They could not stop smiling the rest of the trip. They purchased a bottle of red wine from Castello di Amorosa that they plan to share on their wedding day.
