Annie and Colton first crossed paths not long after Annie moved to Houston, in February of 2021, when they matched online. Colton’s first message was a story about him working at the post office, and behind-the-scenes mailroom drama. After a few days of talking, they went out for dinner and a movie, but after a handful of dates they mutually decided they were better off as friends. Shortly after, Colton relocated to Dallas for work, though the two never completely lost touch. Some time later, they reconnected, and within a month Colton asked Annie to be his girlfriend, and they spent the next year in a long-distance relationship until Annie moved to Dallas in June of 2025. A few months after settling into their new life in the same city, they took a trip back to Houston where Colton surprised Annie with a picnic at Memorial Park Conservancy, surrounded by the place where their story first began, Colton asked Annie to marry him.
