How We Met

October 2016

To be honest, I always wanted the way I met my future husband to be memorable and have some romance. I got just that! I will never forget the day I met Colt. Our mutual friends, Ali and David got married on their property in October of 2016. I hadn't seen them in a couple of years, but decided it would be nice to see them get married and catch up with their family. After the ceremony, I went up to say hi to a friend and saw this tall cowboy with a red beard. I was catching up with my friend and Colt came up and stood closer, waiting to be introduced. He stood with his hands in his pockets ((which he does when he is nervous)) and smiling just shaking his head to our conversation. My friend Austin still didn't get the hint to introduce us. Then it was time to be able to dance with the Bride and Groom. The only country song came on and I decided to cut in while Ali was dancing with Colt. Well Colt took my cut in as me wanting to dance with him... I said, "Sorry, I'm here for the bride". He looked shocked and embarrassed and just walked away. (he can tell you what he said about me to his friend sometime when he walked off)) The next day, Ali texted me and said, " I have someone I want you to meet!!" I said, "let me guess... It's the tall cowboy with the red beard from the wedding..." Ali- "Yes!! I don't know why I didn't think to hook you two up before! You would be perfect together!" Me- "he looks like too nice of a guy, you know I will chew him up and spit him out" Ali- " Colt can handle it. I promise" We all met the next day for lunch and hung out with Ali's family. At the end of the day, Colt asked me, " Do you mind if I ask for your phone number?" (not the usual just asking for the number. Like a gentleman, he asked if he could ask.) If only I could of opened my eyes then and not friend zoned him for the next 4 months... But I will say, God knew what he was doing and knew what I needed to understand true love. Now I get to marry that tall red bearded cowboy.
