Neither of us imagined that we would find a soulmate using an online dating service, but after matching on Tinder in October 2016, we instantly felt a spark between us. On October 28th, we went on our first date. Sitting across from each other at Golden West Café in Hampden, we nervously (but flirtatiously) chatted about our lives. Eric talked mostly about his love of technology, while Courtney geeked out over her love of microbiology. We then went to the American Visionary Art Museum, where we shared our first kiss in the basement! It was a truly perfect first date, and led to many more adventures over the next four years,
About a month after they started dating, Courtney and Eric went to Washington D.C. for a day trip to visit the museums and explore the city. They ended the day at Courtney's favorite museum: The Smithosonian Natural History Museum. Courtney found it difficult to contain her excitement; she *loves* this museum. Her favorite exhibit, the dinosaur exhibit, was unfortunately closed for a complete renovation. A sign on the construction wall stated that the newly remodeled area would likely open in Summer 2019. Over three years away, they jokingly told each other that they would have to come back! Fast forward to June 2019. Courtney just graduated college and was preparing to start her new job as a research assistant. Eric had already purchased the ring and planned the 'perfect' proposal: a sunset proposal on the beach during the annual Merryman beach trip. Courtney was unable to attend the trip because she started her new job that week, so Eric had to come up with a completely new plan. Late one night, Courtney and Eric decided on a whim to visit the Natural History museum the following day. The new dinosaur exhibit recently opened, and Courtney thought it would be a great way to celebrate her birthday. Eric woke up the next morning, put the ring in his backpack, and nervously went about the day, hoping Courtney would not catch on to his plan (spoiler: she had absolutely no idea). At the end of their time at the museum, Eric took Courtney to a quiet spot. After several longing moments, Eric bent down on one knee and pulled out a beautiful ring. Courtney enthusiastically said 'yes!' And, well...the rest is history!
