Our story begins in 1997 in Rockford, IL… Kyle and I lived on the same block and played together as children. After a few years, my family moved to Wisconsin. We moved back to Rockford a year later and our new house was only three blocks from Kyle. However, we didn’t reconnect until high school when our parents saw each other at the grocery store and his parents encouraged me to add him on Facebook. We had no idea that this rekindled friendship would turn into spending a lifetime together. I sent him a friend request on June 7, 2011. On February 17, 2012, Kyle asked me to “go steady with him” as we were standing in the hallway at Guilford High School. Exactly one year after I added him on Facebook, we shared our first kiss as we listened to Crazy Girl (our song) at an Eli Young Band concert on June 7, 2012. Once we finished high school, we attended Rock Valley Community College together. We decided to complete our Bachelor’s Degrees at different schools. Kyle went to Western Illinois University and I went to Illinois State University. It sucked being apart for 2 years, but it definitely made our relationship stronger. On our 5-year anniversary (February 17, 2017), Kyle decided to take the next step. I visited him in Macomb and he took me out to dinner and we decided to go for a walk at the city park across the street. We walked down the brick path and as we approached a gazebo, I noticed a bouquet of flowers. There were also candles and flower petals lining the benches around the inside of the gazebo. I knew this was it! Kyle got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Through the smiles and tears, I said yes! We are so excited to spend forever together. Although our special day didn't go quite as we planned, we said I DO on September 19, 2020! We can’t wait to finally celebrate our special day with ALL of our friends and family! Stephanie & Kyle
