Avoid any big city's like Massafra that are near the venue. It is always best to stay in the small villages like Crispiano, Martina Franca, and Alberebllo. Taranto is a bigger port city not far from the venue that is coastal and withina a 40 minute drive.
If you have any hairstyling needs, there is a great salon in the town right next to our venue! Call and book ahead if you know you’ll be needing services the day of the wedding :) Tommaso Tristani Beauty Hair S.R.L. Via Matteo Pagliari, 99, 74016 Massafra TA, Italy +39 099 400 7908
We have driven those roads many times, and it's easier than driving in New York! The most cost effective way of getting around is to rent a car. There are trains to get you into the nearest cities like Bari or Taranto, but it's easier to have a car to go explore.
It is not needed to rent a car, but always good to have just in case you get pulled over. You can head over to any AAA office and it's about 20-25$ and they last 6 months. No appointment needed, you can just walk in, get your picture taken and get it same day!
Make sure that your passport is not within 6 months of expiration of your departure date. Make sure to get your passport or renewal at least 5-6 months before leaving!
Because these are such small citys, the hotels aren't very big, but there are very nice ones. We have found it better to stay in the masserias(farms), that are more like bed and breakfasts. Masseria Grieco was one of our favorites! and one of our favorite airbnbs was a 3 bedroom apartment on the coast in Monopoli. Expedia.com and Airbnb.com are the only two sites we use when booking our trips(unless we are using miles, and going through Delta or our card company directly).
Up to you! Your bank will need about a two week notice to do the exchange. We personally like to just take it out from the ATM's in these smaller towns to avoid any fees.
American Express is not widely taken across Italy but does not have foreign fees and can be used in most places. Visa and Mastercard are taken pretty much everywhere, but watch out for foreign transaction fees.
