Brit and Mark met through mutual friends, Amber and Kevin. At their first meeting Mark talked about going to look at houses for sale and saying “we” are looking at houses. A few days later, Amber asked Brit what she thought of Mark because he had asked Kevin about her. Brit immediately assumed he had a girlfriend or wife because “they” were looking at houses. Not one wanting to break girl-code, she asked Amber who he was dating so she could tell on Mark. Much to Brit’s surprise, Mark was simply referring to “we” as him and his realtor. Not a significant other. Shortly after, Mark asked her to come look at houses with him. They still get a good laugh out of some of the houses they, Mark and Brit, looked at before deciding on their home.
Carrying on a tradition from Mark’s childhood, him and Brit go to Timbuk Tree Farm to pick out and cut down their Christmas tree. The first year they did so was a learning experience as they tied the tree on Mark’s jeep backwards. Every year since, they get up early, go to breakfast, and head out to Timbuk. December 2020 marked the fifth tree they would be cutting down. After Brit picked out about 20 other trees, they finally agreed on a tree. Brit thought Mark was getting down to start cutting the tree and she turned around to find him on one knee. It was the perfect surprise she wasn’t expecting!
It’s no secret that St Patrick’s Day is Mark’s favorite holiday. While relaxing one evening, half joking, Mark asked Brit what she thought about getting married on St Patrick’s Day. She was on board with it as it would forever make their anniversary a fun day! After a year of dealing with pandemic restrictions, they made the decision to safely hold a small ceremony with their parents on 3/17/21 at Rising Park in Lancaster, OH at the top of Mt Pleasant. Their reception will be in September 2021 to celebrate with all of their family and friends.
