How we got here

Could this BE any more of a love story?

Some love stories are loud. This one built itself quietly, chapter by chapter, over dinners and adventures and ordinary Tuesdays, until one day it was simply the most important story either of them had ever been part of. Chapter One · Cherry Street · Summer 2021 It started with brunch at Cherry Street in the summer of 2021. The kind of morning that turns into afternoon before either person notices. Somewhere between the coffee and the conversation, something easy settled in. The kind of easy you don't find often. The kind you don't forget. He was a man who took his time with things that mattered. She was a woman who could read a room and a person with equal precision. By the time they left, neither of them was in a hurry to end it. Chapter Two · Truist Park · NLCS Game 2 Not long after, Chelsea had tickets to NLCS Game 2 at Truist Park. Matt, a former college pitcher, sitting in the stands at a playoff game next to a woman who actually knew what was happening on the field. He was paying attention to more than the score. By the time the last pitch landed, he already knew she was something different. Chapter Three · The World, Together He had seen most of it from 35,000 feet. She was ready to see it from his point of view. Their first trip together was Charleston, the kind of city that slows you down on purpose, all cobblestone streets and good food and nowhere urgent to be. It suited them both. They came home different in the small way that good trips do to people. After that, the map filled in. DC. New York — her first time, his gift to her. London. Edinburgh, where he took her for her birthday — the kind of gesture that says I was paying attention when you mentioned this. Amsterdam. Reykjavik. Punta Cana. Every city a new chapter, every trip a little more certain. When traveling solo, he always came home with something — a tea she'd love, a small thing from a market she'd never find on her own. He pays attention. She noticed early and never forgot. Chapter Four · The Whole Picture · Spring 2023 He had been part of her life for a while before he became part of all of it. Even before they met in person, Emma, Addison, and Olivia had received gifts from his travels, something thoughtful, a small sign that he was thinking about all of them, not just her. In March of 2023, he met the girls. And from that point forward, they were a unit. He didn't just join her life. He joined her crew — the friends, the family dinners, the holidays, the ordinary weekends. Cooking dinner together. Heading out on the lake. Building the kind of life that accumulates slowly and means everything. He brought Miles. She brought three girls who knew a good thing when they saw one. They all figured it out together.
