Question

The invitation says the ceremony is at 4:00pm, but when should I plan to get to the venue?

Answer

Please try to arrive between 3:30-3:45pm in order to get to the ceremony point and be seated on time for the ceremony to begin.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

First and foremost, there are a few practical considerations to be aware of when planning your outfit. Weather permitting, the entire event will be held outdoors, so we strongly recommend dressing with both weather and location in mind. DO bring an extra layer to cozy up in. DO wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. AVOID wearing shoes that are unsuitable for walking/dancing on the grass or any uneven surfaces (high heels of all kinds will be an impractical choice for this event). Now, for the fun part. Aesthetic: Your cottage-core Sunday best Aesthetic Defined: Think flowy, easy to move in dresses, natural fabrics, floral patterns, colorful ensembles, and nature-themed accessories. Dads? Time to break out the tweed and elbow pads. Colors to keep in mind: Warm, bold jewel tones. Colors to avoid: cold pinks, pastels, scarlet.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

We have planned for a wide range of dishes that should accommodate most food allergies and other dietary restrictions, including vegan, gluten free and dairy free options.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes! The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception are all occurring at the same location and parking will be clearly marked at the entrance upon your arrival. However, if you'd like to join us in our shared goal of a sustainable wedding while simultaneously helping conserve our limited space, we would strongly recommend considering a carpool option. (Bonus points if you plan ahead and appoint a designated driver for the event!)

Question

What is the timeline for the event?

Answer

4:00-4:20pm Ceremony 4:30-5:30pm Cocktail Hour 5:30-6:30pm Dinner (toasts are welcome at this time!) 6:35pm Dance Floor Opens 7:00pm Dessert is served 9:00pm Event Formal End As a matter of personal taste we've decided to dispense with many of the more common wedding traditions like a wedding party, bouquet toss, special dances, cutting the cake, etc. In favor of a more informal reception with an emphasis on dinner and dancing, so come prepared to eat, drink, and be merry!

Question

Is there anything we should know about securing accommodations for this event?

Answer

Frederick, Germantown and Gaithersburg, MD are all good places to start when looking for accommodations in the area. Most hotels will be approximately 30 minutes away from the venue, and each location offers varying levels of convenience and accessibility depending on your needs. Airbnb and Vrbo also offer some good options for places to stay in the nearby area. Please note that there are very few options for transportation in this area, unfortunately ride-share services, shuttles and even cabs are difficult to come by in our small town, so please make a plan for driving safely to and from the venue.

Question

What should we know about the venue?

Answer

The wedding will be taking place on the van Hemert family property, known affectionately as Kelbourne Farm. Because this event will be taking place on private property, we ask that all our guests conduct themselves with the utmost respect and consideration for their hosts and the surrounding neighbors. In line with this goal we ask our guests to note that the speed limit once you reach the gravel drive is 10MPH. Please do not exceed this for any reason as it is a precautionary measure that helps keep the many farm animals, beloved pets, and respected wildlife that call this property their home safe from harm. Finally, please be advised that this location will have some rustic elements, so if you have any accessibility concerns or need additional details, please reach out to the bride at the number listed above.

Question

Is there anything we should know about getting to the venue?

Answer

While GPS navigation should get you most of the way here, the directions aren't always consistent when it comes to finding the house itself, so there will be ample signage at the entrance of the driveway to mark the turn. Once you turn from the main road onto the gravel drive, follow it all the way to the end where you'll find a brick house behind a black gate, and signage pointing all guests to the ceremony point.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We have planned for a small, intimate wedding celebration with our closest family and friends, therefore, we request that if your RSVP does not offer the option of a plus one that you refrain from bringing any additional guests.
