Collin and Nicole met when they were 15 years old, sitting in English class. Their teacher often paired students she thought would get along well, and in their case, she was clearly right. What started as casual conversations soon turned into a friendship that neither of them expected. As summer began, their bond quickly deepened, and they became best friends. They stayed up on FaceTime until 4 a.m., hoping their parents would not notice their tired eyes the next day. As early as it was, they fell in love quickly. By the end of that summer, they were already talking about the future and making plans to get married and build a life together. What made it even more special was that neither of them had ever dated anyone before. They were each other's first love, with no reservations and no past to compare it to. Because they only knew love in its purest form, their feelings developed naturally and deeply. During their three years of high school together, their foundation only grew stronger, even though they could not have predicted what was to come. As college decisions approached, they chose different paths. Collin committed to West Point in New York, and Nicole chose Baylor University in Texas. The daunting separation came quickly and left two people who had once been inseparable living 2,000 miles apart for four years. Through countless goodbyes, tears, handwritten letters, and more late-night FaceTimes, they made it through what many believed was impossible. Their time apart strengthened their trust, fostered healthy independence, and deepened their reliance on the Lord during this unique season of their relationship. Through God's faithfulness, they became even more confident in their desire to be married one day. To this day, they continue looking forward to the moment when they can finally be together for good and begin the life they have dreamed of since they were just kids sitting side by side in English class.
