By far Jacee's favorite place to be in Michigan is anywhere you're by the water. Hopefully by the end of May there will be warm enough weather to enjoy the beach (but Michigan can be unpredictable in that aspect!) Holland State Park is a great spot, with lots of beach space, the pier to walk out on, the channel to walk along, and a playground for kids.
Park with playground and many covered table areas, as well as the iconic tunnel through the sand dune that leads to Lake Michigan beach access. Don't forget to climb up and sprint down the sand dune as fast as you can and yell "echo" while you're in the tunnel (it's tradition).
Both Jacee and Collin's favorite pizza place in Holland - perfect to get on your way to the beach for dinner and a sunset. Make sure to try their many flavors of "stix" aka the best breadsticks in town!
If you're a fan of thin crust pizza, this is the best in town!
Home of the famous Tommy Turtle Sundae - and the favorite ice cream place of the Yount family. There are a few locations in town, but this is the best one, with plenty of outdoor seating as well as a fun mini golf course next door!
Another great place for Ice Cream, as well as a indoor gift shop, this general store is right next to the State Park.
If you've heard Jacee talk about her hometown, you for sure have heard about Tulip Time, the big Dutch festival every May. It'll probably be too late in the season to see any tulips left, but Windmill Island is a beautiful park, home to a traditional functioning Dutch Windmill and also a small remake of a Dutch Town (Dutch Village is another place in Holland like this too!)
Jacee's favorite coffee shop in Holland - with great pastries as well, and lots of indoor and back patio seating.
The bride's father says this is the best coffee in town, and he stands by this opinion. They have two different locations in town (one of which has a drive through!)
8th Street is the main downtown street on the South Side of Holland. Home to many restaurants (New Holland Brewing and HopCat are some family favorites), coffee shops (the 205 coffee bar is a go to!), cafes (Cranes in the City, and Bowerman's are the best!) boutiques, and gift shops - its a great place to walk both during the day and in the evening.
May is a beautiful month in Michigan, so get outside and enjoy it! Mt. Pisgah is a sand dune by the State Park with a stair path, as well as trails in the woods behind it that lead you back down. Riley trails has many walking paths through the woods as well! Stu Visser Trails, Saugatuck Dunes, Rosy Mound, and Pigeon creek are a few other places we enjoy too.
