It’s funny how life’s little circumstances can change the trajectory of a person’s life. Something as small as a Facebook message can bring two people together and start a love story that otherwise never would have been written. Collin and I both attended Gadsden State Community College. And while we had mutual friends in common, we had never officially met or even carried on a single conversation. Sure, we had seen each other on campus, maybe passing in the hallway or a dorm room, but we had never connected. Collin heard that I was considering leaving Gadsden State and transferring to Wallace State and he was curious as to why. So, he sent me a private message on Facebook. That innocent private message turned into what seemed like a never-ending conversation until one night Collin took the plunge and asked me to join him in the Game Room. I decided it was now or never and took the leap and met him, along with his host of rowdy friends that night, and as they say the rest is history… Since that chance encounter in October 2013, that host of rowdy friends has now become a second family to Collin and I. We have all spent countless hours building that bond by thrifting at local thrift stores, hanging out in dorm parking lots and walking the aisles of Wal-Mart. This second family we have built is bound together by laughs and adversity. Our friends and family have watched us climb some steep mountains and soar down into some beautiful valleys. Our foundation has been built by distance, opposite sleep schedules and journeying together through the grief of lost family and friends, but we have never left each other’s side. I knew from the moment I met Collin we were meant for forever. No matter what adventure life throws our way we know that the each other has the others back. Collin and I are excited for the next chapter of our lives, and we are excited to have you join us on our journey.
