December 8, 2018 was a cold, rainy day, but it was a day that Collin planned a date night to celebrate the completion of my second semester of PA school. He suggested we start our date night off by attending 4PM Vigil Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, followed by praying the rosary, as well as dinner at our favorite restaurant, Louisiana Lagniappe. If you know Collin, you know how important the Blessed Mother is to him. Collin prays the rosary daily, so when he asked to begin this ritual with me, I thought WOW what a beautiful part of our relationship this would be. Now, if you know me, you also know how important Sacred Heart School and Church are to me. These places were the beginning of the foundation of many of my Catholic faith teachings and traditions, which today lead to my unwavering faith. It is also the place where I'd pray for a man that would lead me to the cross, to the altar, and most of all to God. Despite the forecast, Collin and I attended Mass and prayed the rosary after Mass. We began to feel rushed as the security guard began to turn off lights and lock up the church. Little did I know, he almost ruined the moment! Before Collin and I left the church, we genuflected at the altar and when I turned around to urge Collin to dinner, he was still down on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. Through the happy tears, I said YES. And thankfully, Collin asked a dear family friend to capture this beautiful moment. The icing on the cake- my Mims was hiding in the choir loft throughout the entirety of the mass and rosary, and witnessed the entire moment! After soaking in the moment, Collin and I went to eat at Louisiana Lagniappe because he knew that even through the excitement, that I’d be getting hangry VERY soon. Our family was there to greet us with open arms and excitement. I will remember this day for the rest of my life and I can hardly wait to become Collin’s wife at the altar that holds such a special place in our hearts.
