Absolutely! We understand that Detroit’s reputation from years past might raise some questions, but the city has truly transformed and is now thriving with vibrant neighborhoods, world-class restaurants, and a strong sense of community. Many areas, especially downtown and the surrounding districts, have seen major revitalization and are now bustling, welcoming, and safe for visitors. We have had many of our best memories together as a couple in the city of Detroit, whether that is attending Red Wings and Tigers games, or date nights at restaurants and cocktails bars - Detroit holds a special place in our hearts. Our wedding venue is located in an extremely safe area with dedicated security, so you can focus on enjoying the celebration without any worries. Like any major city, it’s always good to stay aware of your surroundings, but rest assured - Detroit today is a lively and safe place that we’re excited to share with you!
Because the ceremony begins promptly at 4:00pm, we recommend you aim to arrive by 3:30pm-3:45pm at the cathedral to ensure you are seated on time. If you are only joining for the reception, then please arrive at Shinola by 6:30pm.
For the ceremony, there is a large parking lot behind the cathedral. For the reception at Shinola, there will be valet parking available. You may also use the Z Lot Parking Garage that is right outside the venue (located at 1234 Library St, Detroit, MI 48226).
Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you received a plus one, they will appear under your name when you RSVP. Thank you for understanding, and please feel free to reach out with any questions!

We love all of your kiddos, but we are asking guests to refrain from bringing kids unless otherwise stated on the invitation. We hope it can be a much deserved night off and date night for some parents!
Yes, absolutely! Because we need to see you out on the dance floor and a drink (or two, or three) can help get you out there. The drinks are on us, but the hangover is on you! Please drink responsibly :)
While transportation is not provided, getting to the ceremony and reception is super easy! The reception venue is just a quick 7-minute drive from the ceremony location, making the trip short and simple. If you’re staying at one of the nearby hotels we’ve recommended, you’re in luck - they’re all within a very, very short walking distance of the venue, so no need to worry about parking or calling a ride.

Yes, both venues are inside. Shinola has a rooftop terrace where you will be able to take a step outside if you choose to.
