Many factors went into this decision. Ultimately, Phil and I were not enthusiastic about many of the "traditional" reception events (ei first dance, oddly formal cake cutting, assigned seating...). The part we were really excited about? Throwing a giant party with a ton of the folks we care about! Doing an open house style also allowed us to invite more people! Food and drinks will be served all day, so you can eat whenever you want and then when you go to enjoy the other activities someone else can snag your seat.
Sure did! There will (of course) be drinking and dancing! We will also have outdoor games like corn-hole and giant jenga. Plus we will have tables for board games, cards against humanity, and cards. If you have an indoor or outdoor game you'd especially like to play contact us ahead of time and we'll see if we can track it down!
Think somewhere on the spectrum of business casual to semi-formal. Some guest will wear the typical jacket and tie you expect at a formal reception, while others are opting for a more casual slacks and button down combo. Steer clear of tee shirts, it won't be quite THAT casual. Ladies, if you are interested in playing the yard games you might want to opt for flats, but everything else is on solid ground, so if you can't abandon your heels you won't miss out on much.
If your invite just has your name on it, you can bring a guest. If your invite has more than one name, but you want to bring additional guests ask us in advance.
Yes BUT the party was not designed with kids in mind.... and we have A LOT of Fireball, so bring children at your own risk. If we had to choose between you + kids or you not being able to come, we'd definitely pick the + kids option. Hazards include drunk adults, fireworks, and a pond with steep banks.
