Colleen and Ryan met the day before their best friend’s wedding. Colleen, a bridesmaid for her best friend Loretta, was introduced to Ryan, a groomsman and long-time friend of Joe, the groom. Ryan noticed Colleen at the bridal brunch but didn’t approach her, as she was focused on Loretta. Later at the rehearsal dinner, Ryan tried to ask Colleen about her background, but quickly realized her answers didn’t match Loretta’s. Colleen walked away laughing at his slip-up, but Ryan remained intrigued. The next day at the wedding, Ryan watched Colleen joke about the groomsmen’s socks and even carry his best man, Eric, in a rodeo-style stunt. Ryan knew he had to get to know her. Colleen and Ryan grabbed a drink, but Colleen’s dad, Ed, followed them to the bar, eager to take a picture with Colleen and the guy she walked down the aisle with, mistakenly thinking it was Ryan. The awkward photo marked their first of many together. The second photo was taken by Aunt Brenda, who made Ryan awkwardly kiss Colleen on the cheek. Afterward, Ryan spent the rest of the evening by Colleen’s side, attempting to charm her despite spilling beer on her dress and awkwardly forgetting her name. Still, Colleen graciously accepted when Ryan challenged her to a kiss. The next day, Ryan texted Colleen, inviting her to meet up again at Obed and Issac’s the following Friday. But, confused about how to pursue her, he ghosted her for the next week. Loretta and Colleen laughed about Ryan’s odd behavior, convinced he was just playing it cool. Finally, an hour before their planned date, Colleen was certain they were going on it. When they did meet up, they talked for hours, and Ryan learned how Colleen and Loretta had become Hallmark Besties. From that day forward, Colleen and Ryan spent nearly every weekend and evening together, quickly growing close. As time passed, Colleen got to know Ryan’s housemates—Eric, Connor, and Petros—on their street “Outer Park” and witnessed some of the chaos that came with living with four 20-something guys. Things became more serious when Eric and Connor moved to Seattle. Ryan suggested they buy a house together, but Colleen, more practical and comfortable at her parents’ place, wasn’t ready. Ryan then proposed they move into his house on Outer Park together, but Colleen turned it down, encouraging Ryan to find new roommates instead. A year later, Colleen and Ryan decided they were ready to take the next step and began house-hunting. They eventually found a house in Colleen’s childhood neighborhood, just two streets from her family. Colleen enlisted her sister, Hannah, and their dad to help renovate the house. While the house was being renovated, Ryan stayed with Hannah, and Colleen remained at home with her parents. Ryan quickly realized he was living the easy life as Colleen and Hannah took care of most of the house duties. By May, after the renovations were complete, Colleen and Ryan moved in. By June, Ryan was planning his proposal. Colleen had a hunch it was coming after receiving a credit card notification from Giganti & Giganti a few months before, but she didn’t expect what came next. To throw her off, Ryan and Hannah planned a day out of town, sending Colleen to a first birthday party for Hannah’s best friend’s child while Ryan prepped. But Colleen, determined to take a nap when she got home, nearly spoiled the surprise. Ryan spent the next half hour trying to get her to go to Obed & Issac’s, while a group of their family and friends were waiting. When they finally arrived, Colleen quickly realized what was happening. To calm Ryan’s nerves, she convinced him to tell the stories that led up to their engagement. Afterward, Ryan took her to the bench where they had spent hours talking the night they first met at Loretta and Joe’s wedding. Despite Colleen’s distractions, Ryan promised her forever and asked her to marry him. After the proposal, he surprised her with an engagement party filled with their family and friends!
