To Hinge or Not to Hinge

August 31, 2024

When a boy about to delete a dating app decided to change his location to include further distances he had never considered, and a girl who went out of her comfort zone by saying yes to a phone conversation with a beautifully smiling tattooed boy decide to meet on cloudy Saturday, fate had finally blessed them both. As usual I was running extremely late, updating and apologizing to Patrick every step of the way. When I eventually arrived at Miller’s for a casual dinner, I ran in, asking if a guy covered in tattoos had been seated yet. The hostess said no then I got the text asking where I was, I told him I was already inside. That’s when it happened…Patrick came walking around to the entrance, I smiled and waved, that was it. The nerves went away and throughout our whole dinner there was never an awkward or uncomfortable moment. Within the next month we had already started planning a vacation to Mexico and haven’t left each other’s side since. On a very cold Friday December 13th, just over 3 months together, Patrick was taking me skating at Wollman Rink in Central Park, because he knew it was something I’d never done, and the city at Christmas is my favorite. After going around the ice a few times and me praising him for not falling once, we got to a spot we had been stopping at when he pretended to fall. I was so worried that he hurt himself I didn’t realize that he fell on one knee and was starting to propose! Amidst the kids speeding by, me trying to make sure he was ok, and him trying to pull the ring out of his pocket, he started to say the words that will forever be in my heart. It only took me about 5 minutes to say yes after getting over the shock, but I thought that would be obvious to him. Our fairytale has finally come true and I’m so blessed and excited to become Mrs. Patrick Tucker!
