Update 6/1/2020 We can't believe plans are changing yet again! The wedding is ON. You may have heard that Yamhill County was recently approved for Phase 2, which means that we ARE allowed to have guests again and utilize our original venue located in Newberg, OR! THIS IS GREAT NEWS and news that we are beyond excited to share. We are back to Plan A- and hope that you will join us! Update 5/20/2020 We realize that most of you just received your wedding invite this past week... Truth be told, we’ve been holding onto them for the past few months in hopes that this virus mess would blow over... unfortunately that has not been the case and we will NOT be moving forward as originally planned. It is with deep sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of our 6/26/2020 wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This was not an easy decision to make, as we have spent the last year pouring our hearts into planning a memorable celebration. It has been heartbreaking but not nearly as heartbreaking as the idea of putting our loved ones at risk. We have been very patient, optimistic, and hopeful, but we think that after over 9 years together we should just do the dang thing already. Therefore, we have decided to tie the knot during an private intimate ceremony on our original date. We love each and every one of you and know you will be present with us in spirit. If you would like to be virtually present we will have a virtual ceremony available. Please continue to follow our epic journey to husband and wife and enjoy the stroll down memory lane that we have uploaded here on our website. Please send us fun memories, notes, or anything that comes to mind to: RichmondBarrettwedding@gmail.com! We miss you all dearly and cannot wait for the day to come when we can all gather again.
Jake hadn't even walked through the dimly lit doorway yet when my butterflies took flight. When he strutted over, I was happily perched on my bar stool, living my best life, sipping cheap cocktails and giggling with my new BFFs. I tried to play it cool, but on the inside, my heart was racing. As he hammed it up with his friends sitting across from me, all I could think of was "WHAT IS HAPPENING? WHO IS THIS HUNK OF A MAN? OMG, I'm wearing my sister's clothes and I have dirty hair. Oh no. Oooooh no!" Our connection was instantaneous. The chemistry was magnetic. Jokes were made, eyelashes were batted, peanuts shells were flirtatiously thrown back and forth... we were BOTH bringing the heat as if we were top Hollywood actors in a Rom-Com!
Colleen was handpicked for me by one of my best friends Mary. One phone call started it all. Mary called me and told me she found this amazing girl and that I needed to come meet her. I picked a shirt up off the floor and smelled it. It passed the smell test. I headed out the door and to the bar. I walked into the bar and over to the table Mary was sitting at. She took me over to meet Colleen, introduced us, and the rest is history. We meshed right away. It was love at first sight or something like that. We slammed AMFs, made jokes, made fun of other people, and threw nuts at each other. I knew she was the one when she told a guy that was hitting on her that, and I quote "You must be this tall to ride this ride" and held her hand above his head. I knew then she was the one. She was beautiful, funny, and could deal with me. She was perfect. The next day, I walked into the kitchen and told my mom I met the girl I was going to marry. I knew she was the one from the first time we met. Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?
