FAQs

Question

Where is the wedding taking place?

Answer

We’re getting married at the beautiful Barceló Maya Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico! All wedding festivities will take place on the resort grounds. There will be a private shuttle for wedding guests that will depart at 4:30PM to transport you to the ceremony. Guests are also welcome to walk along the beach path to the ceremony location, which is approximately a 10-15 minute walk.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Beach Cocktail Attire Ladies: Breezy cocktail attire is encouraged- think short, midi, or maxi dresses, as well as jumpsuits or trousers in breathable fabrics like satin, chiffon, linen, or cotton. Wedges, block heels, or stylish sandals are perfect (keep in mind- you’ll be walking on sand!). Gentlemen: Lightweight long sleeve or short sleeve button-down shirts or polos (linen is your friend). Slacks or nice chinos. Loafers, boat shoes, or sandals. Blazers or jackets in light fabrics are optional, but not required.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all be outdoors on the beach.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Invites will indicate if you have a +1! All guests, including partners and family, will be named on the invite.

Question

Are kids welcome at the wedding?

Answer

While we adore your little ones, we’re planning a celebration just for the adults. We hope this gives you a chance to relax and enjoy the festivities with us. Invitations will include the names of all invited guests. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Answer

We’d love for you to snap photos and share your favorite moments with us! That said, during the ceremony, we kindly ask that you put your phones away and just be present with us. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces, not your screens, in those special moments.

Question

What is the weather like in October?

Answer

October in Riviera Maya is warm and tropical. Expect highs around 80°F with occasional breezes and the chance of a light shower. We recommend lightweight fabrics, swimsuits, dinner appropriate attire, sun hats, and sunscreen!

Question

What does the Barcelo Maya Palace offer?

Answer

The Palace is a luxury, all-inclusive resort with access to: - 3 pools (including adults-only and kids’ areas) - A stunning beach with snorkeling and kayaking - Multiple restaurants and bars - A world-class spa and fitness center - Nightly entertainment and shows - Sports courts (tennis, basketball, etc.) - And more!

Question

Are there excursions nearby?

Answer

Yes! The resort offers guided excursions, or you can book independently. You can book through the resort’s concierge or online via reputable tour operators. Here are some popular options: - Xcaret Eco Park (20 mins): Underground rivers, cultural shows, wildlife. - Tulum Ruins (30 mins): Ancient Mayan ruins with ocean views. - Chichen Itza (2.5 hrs): One of the New Seven Wonders of the World. - Cenote Adventures: Swim or snorkel in these natural freshwater sinkholes. - Snorkeling & Scuba Diving: Near Cozumel or Akumal (turtle sightings!). - Isla Mujeres & Catamaran/Booze Cruises: A fun day trip featuring a scenic boat ride, snorkeling, drinks on board, and free time to explore the charming island of Isla Mujeres.

Question

Do I need to make dinner reservations at the resort?

Answer

Yes- and we highly recommend making them as soon as you check in! Barceló Maya Palace has several à la carte restaurants that fill up quickly, especially during busy weeks. Reservations can be made through the resort concierge upon arrival. Booking early ensures you’ll get to enjoy all the dining options without a wait! If you don’t secure a reservation, no worries- the buffet is typically open for dinner from 6:30 PM–10:00 PM and does not require a reservation. Dress Code for Dinner at Barceló Maya Palace: Most buffet restaurants are casual and allow resort wear during the day and evening. However, specialty à la carte restaurants require smart casual attire. For men, this means long pants, a collared shirt, and closed-toe shoes (no shorts, tank tops, or flip-flops). For women, dresses, skirts, or dressy tops with sandals or flats are perfect. We recommend packing a few nicer dinner outfits so you’re comfortable for evening reservations at the resort’s more formal restaurants.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! All travelers will need a valid passport to enter Mexico. Please make sure yours isn’t expired and is valid through at least April 2027.

Question

Do I need pesos?

Answer

Nope! U.S. dollars are widely accepted at the resort and most tourist spots. You may also use a credit card or debit card and there are ATM’s on the resort. We suggest bringing cash for tips, excursions, souvenirs, and additional purchases.
