How We Met

October 17, 2015

Set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, Davis and Colleen first met at a little taqueria in Berkeley to initially go to an art festival. However, the art festival tickets sold out, leading the two to make a 180 and go to a haunted maze instead! After an impressionable first date where Colleen almost kicked the horror actors multiple times, the two kept in touch, despite living over 1.5 hours away from each other. Two more dates later, they made it official!

Officially Dating

January 30, 2016

Clueless Colleen assumed she was going on a prayer walk with a friend at Lawrence Labs in Berkeley, but boy was she surprised to see Davis at the end of the path with a bouquet of flowers!! He asked Colleen to be his girlfriend, and she said yes, of course, marking the beginning of a beautiful long-distance dating relationship!

The Proposal

October 28, 2018

What Colleen thought was a scavenger hunt date turned out to be the biggest surprise of her life! Davis had written clues to the scavenger hunt locations on the flap of numbered envelopes. The second clue led Colleen to Surfer's Knoll, her favorite little beach. Once there, feeling a little chilly, Colleen asked for Davis' jacket. He froze, got wide-eyed, and hastily replied, "No! Um, I might need it." Although she found that odd (he never gets cold), Colleen brushed it off, and they continued strolling along the shore, praying together. As they approached the rocky lookout point on the beach, Davis stopped and stated he needed to make sure they had enough time to visit all the locations. He began to open the remaining four envelopes, purposefully opening them in scrambled order, so Colleen would have to guess. The first read, "You." The second envelope said, "Me?" The third envelope stated, "Will." Colleen stared blankly at each one, not comprehending what was going on. Finally, Davis unveiled the last envelope, which read, "Marry." At that word, Colleen was so shocked that she yelled out, "NO!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" With that, the ugly sobbing began as Davis pulled the ring out of the jacket he would not let Colleen use, knelt down on one knee, and asked Colleen to spend the rest of their lives together. She said yes, and that marked the start of forever :)
