Colleen and I met in Nashville, Tennessee where I moved from Stockton, New Jersey to attend law school and she moved from Tupelo, Mississippi for work. After a wonderful year together in Nashville, last fall, I began work in New Jersey, with Colleen remaining in Nashville. We soon became expert travelers, making near-weekly trips to one another. By January, between the two of us, I figured that we had racked up enough frequent flyer miles for the honeymoon and it was time to get married. In early February, I traveled south for two interviews: one with Colleen’s father on Saturday and another with a law firm in Nashville on Monday. The next weekend, while Colleen was driving me to the airport past Fort Negley, she mentioned that on a picnic date there once, she thought I was going to tell her I loved her. While I had already planned the engagement for the very next weekend, I still was not sure exactly where I wanted to ask her. With that story, everything was set. On Saturday, February 22, 2020, I asked Colleen to marry me at the top of Fort Negley, overlooking Nashville. In March, I moved to Nashville, where we will settle after the wedding.
