Colin and I both were transferred to a new area during our missions. Over the course of almost three transfers, we became good friends and promised to talk after we got home. We were both writing other people at this time and hadn't really thought of dating.

August - Colin and my best friend came to California to celebrate my 22nd birthday. Little did we know it would spark something. October - I went to Utah for a friends wedding and when I wasn't there, I was swooning over his not-known-until-that-moment guitar skills. November - Colin and I made it official and then began the long distance torture. April 2021 - I moved to Utah to see what could happen. We haven't missed a day seeing each other since.

Colin had planned a big trip to Lava Hot Springs with our friends. I had convinced myself it wasn't going to happen that weekend. I got to the campsite a day later than he did and when I got there, I was expecting his to come greet me but it didn't happen. Our sneaky friends made a ploy to get me to walk closer and then I heard music. I looked around to find where it was coming from and saw Colin standing there, with pictures of us strung up behind him. I walked over, put my stuff down and gave him a hug. Our running joke was 'do you want to get engaged?' and he asked me just that before getting down on one knee. When he asked me to marry him, I couldn't even focus. My brain had said yes before my mouth ever did. I finally mustered up the words of "Yes" after an agonizing pause, the big question lingering in the air.
