If you ask us how we met, we will tell you that it all started on a beautiful afternoon in May of 2017, in the mountains just outside of Rome, Italy. We were both there on a group trip with the Auburn University Singers Show Choir, and on this day we split into smaller groups to go explore different areas of the city. Even though we were technically in the same group, Hannah and I had never actually gotten to know each other during the school year. It can surely be said that our first true conversation was held there, at the Villa D'Este gardens in Tivoli. When I got back to Auburn I began focusing on playing shows with my new band. I was still playing guitar for the AU Singers, and during the fall semester the group put on a Dessert Cabaret featuring several solo acts. Hannah was performing one and had asked me to accompany her. This was our first time really working with each other in-depth. I myself would say this is when we really got to know each other. We started going on dates to football games and, more importantly. Hannah would come to see me perform at the bars with my band. I learned very quickly that this girl was kind, thoughtful, funny, and hella cute. She was also very honest and opinionated, I think she knew right away that I was of the gentle and agreeable sort. We compliment each other well. We've also developed a deep admiration and respect for the other one's gifts and talents. That mutual respect and honesty is the foundation for a deep, deep love for one another. When I proposed, I told her how I felt, that she is my light and my grace, and my partner in crime. When I am with her, no time in the world could be better spent. I feel like a better person in her presence. When I am apart from her, my soul aches until I hear her voice again. I am far from perfect, but she sees me and loves me in spite of my shortcomings. That is why I would do anything for her, and will give her my love until my last breath.
We might've met at an AU singers event my first year at Auburn, but I truly don't remember meeting Colin until our trip to Rome, Italy. Specifically the night our friends Zach Blomely and Alexa Combs organized a "pizza crawl". That night I found out that Colin was funny, good at finishing my beers, and that he already had a girlfriend. It wasn't until the fall of 2017 that we reconnected on.. i'll say it.. Tinder. I'm grateful he had the patience to wait for me after a few advanaces on his part. But I wised up once I went to one of his shows. Some of my favorite moments from our first few years together are from nights in downtown Auburn at The Magnolia Roots' shows. Finally the stars aligned November 4th.. which is also the day of our small ceremony. I can't think of a better way to spend our 7th anniversary together than by marrying my best friend. My wish in the Trevi Fountain came true after all :) EDIT: okay after reading Colin's version, which is way better, he is right. I have a video tape of him at Tivoli Gardens.. we were strangers at the time, which is still so mind blowing to think about.
